Yahoo! is hosting the first summit on Apache Hadoop on March 25th in Santa Clara (formerly Sunnyvale). The summit is sponsored by the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) and brings together leaders from the Hadoop developer and user communities. Hadoop is now being used by companies in production environments, by academic and industrial research groups, and at universites for teaching data parallel computing. The speakers will cover topics in the areas of extensions being developed for Hadoop, case studies of applications being built and deployed on Hadoop, and a discussion on future directions for the platform.
The event is free and open to anyone interested in Hadoop.

Hadoop Summit Final Confirmation
Just a quick note to all attendees and watchers for the Hadoop Summit next week.
(1) Confirmation of Attendance. There's been a bit of confusion on this. If you visit the Upcoming.org page and look in the upper right, you'll either "I'm attending" or "I'm Watching" selected. Those of you in the "I'm Attending" group got in under the wire!

If you put your full name in your Upcoming.org profile, we'll have a pre-printed badge for you and speed up the on-site registration process.
(2) Logistics and Shuttle. If you're coming in from out of town and staying at a local hotel, we have a shuttle making the rounds that morning and evening that you might want to take advantage of. Check the summit web site for details.

Also, if you're driving locally, check the web site for a few pictures of the Network Meeting Center (in the Techmart building).
(3) Schedule and Capacity. We have a very tight schedule, so be sure to arrive on time. The final schedule is on the web site. Also, we're at capacity for the event, so if you're not coming PLEASE mark yourself as "I'm Watching" or "Don't watch or attend" on the Upcoming.org site to make room for someone else.
