The Mayborn Museum Complex is pleased to present the Zuhl Collection of Petrified Tree Cross Sections, an exhibit on loan courtesy of the Houston Museum of Natural Science. The exhibit includes 26 fossilized tree cross sections, varying in size from 8 inches in diameter to over 40, some of which date back millions of years. These samples display an amazing variety of colors produced during the process of fossilization, from vibrant reds and yellows, to pale blues and white hues. See and touch these beautiful specimens that come from a wide range of trees including oak, palm, and sequoias, and were found in a variety of states including Texas, Oregon, Arizona and Utah. You may see this incredible collection beginning March 10 through Aug. 27, 2007 in the exhibit hallway next to the SBC Theater.
Admission is $4 for children 18 months and older and $6 for adults. As always, admission is free for members. For more information, please call 254-710-1110. Remember to bring your camera and make memories of this fun time with your family! Click here for more information.
