Zorro, California's legendary hero, rides again to spearhead Oakland's effort for Peralta Hacienda Historical Park, one of the most significant cultural historic sites in the East Bay.
Flamenco dancer Fanny Ara will ignite the stage with a fiery performance while Zorro films are projected inside the beautiful candlelit Peralta House. See Douglas Fairbanks, Guy Williams, and Antonio Banderas as Zorro in the movies, and then don a mask and cape to play the part yourselves.
In addition to films and flamenco, enjoy a silent auction, costume contest, and dance lessons. Visitors will taste historical rum cocktails and California wine, and eat a light dinner provided by local sponsoring restaurants.
Zorro by Night is a gala benefit for Friends of Peralta Hacienda Historical Park. The prized museum, grounds, youth and community programs need your generous financial support to replace lost operational funding. The park includes a community-oriented museum in the home of the Peralta family, and six acres of beautiful gardens and activity areas. Zorro's philosophy of justice and dignity is alive in Peralta Hacienda's programs: free after school classes, urban agriculture, inspiring adult education, and more. Tickets begin at $50.
Friends of Peralta Hacienda Historical Park offers services that are scarce in the Fruitvale neighborhood, and experiences that are unique in the Bay Area. The museum's message: Every Human Being Is Making History. This vision encourages youth to make positive life choices, helps Fruitvale residents reconcile differences, and inspires visitors from around the world to connect their own experiences to the fascinating story of the Bay Area. Oakland needs Peralta Hacienda Historical Park, and Peralta Hacienda needs you!
Masks are provided, costumes are encouraged.
