Zoo Theatre directors David Mishook, Meg Keene, and Tony Award Nominee and Theatre World Award recipient Jonathan C. Kaplan are pleased to announce the company's upcoming revival of Maria Irene Fornes' "Mud," which opens a limited four-day run on Thursday, February 24.
"Mud" - the second show of the company's first season - is a dark comedy that offers a biting comment on poverty in America. Fornes introduces audiences to a world where an object as simple as a book can bring salvation. Mae, a woman desperately trying to improve her lot in life, lives with her sickly companion Lloyd in a small house on the fringes of America. When Mae brings local man Henry into her home, she feels her life has finally improved -- until an accident renders Henry paralyzed. Mae ultimately learns that she is the only one that can truly save herself, if she can find a way out.
"Mud," features a cast of talented young actors on the rise - including Haley Channing (Mae), James Gash (Henry), and Adrian Roman (Lloyd) - and will show at the John Houseman Studio Theater, 452 West 42nd Street, New York, NY (btw. 9th and 10th Ave.).
Scheduled performances are as follows:
