San Francisco International Airport International Terminal
------------------
The San Francisco International Arts Festival will open with Departure and Arrival, a landmark site specific performance by Zaccho Dance Theatre at the San Francisco International Airport International Terminal on Wednesday, May 16. Directed by Joanna Haigood, Departure and Arrival is a performance installation that focuses on the history and the social and cultural implications of the African Diaspora in the United States. Incorporating the elegant architectural features of the International Terminal, aerial dance, video projection and a music and sound/text score, Departure and Arrival is a visual and poetic essay that chronicles the lives and contributions of Africans and African American in America. Collaborators include Wayne Campbell, Walter Kitundu and Ricardo Rivera. All performances are free to the public.
We are so pleased to have the San Francisco International Arts Festival here at the Airport,” said Peter Nardoza, Government Affairs Officer for SFO. “This sort of collaboration showcases SFO as an iconic cultural destination for San Francisco – and beyond. We can’t wait for this landmark series of performances.”
