Young artists and community members will come together this Saturday, June 12, at 12 noon to dedicate a mural created by high school youth celebrating their intercultural exchange in Richmond's Southside. This 1,800 square-foot mural, prominently located at the corner of Hull Street and Cowardin Avenue, is the culmination of an ART 180 program involving primarily African-American and Latino youth from George Wythe and Huguenot high schools.
ART 180 partnered with the schools and with Communities In Schools of Richmond, along with the City of Richmond's Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities, and the Hispanic Liaison Office to offer the program. The building is owned by Dan Deckleman, who eagerly offered it up for the public artwork.
