The Sunlight Foundation is Holding an Election Night Watch Party and You're Invited!
The American democratic system comes to its glorious peak on Election Day as voters issue their verdict on candidates and we move forward to a new Congress. In the 18th and 19th century, voting at the local precinct was a rare moment when the entire community* came together in one location. The act of casting a ballot was often succeeded by an uproarious celebration of representation and the pending nonviolent transfer of power. We would like to hearken back to the original core feelings of civic duty** to have a boisterous good time.
*or at least property owning men over the age of 18 from select European heritages
**only with actually the entire community this time
