Younghearts http://youtu.be/5b6PxcSiDmM (new video; ‘California’) were always dreamers – romanticising their days spent listening to The Smiths, Oasis, Libertines et al. Big melodies and big ideas are conveyed in instant fashion. Formed from having nothing else to do, and no specialist or privileged upbringing, the prospect of getting their music out there" was always appealing “It always feels like you’re at the centre of the world,” says Joe, “our work ethic is born from the fact we love it so much”. Younghearts met at various London club nights – collectively begging the DJ to drop one more track. The dream for Younghearts is to stir the masses, to be the act people dance to at the clubs they used to visit. They want to write the songs that the last ones standing at the end of the night are waiting to hear. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Younghearts/37101323799
French Crops is a band name that, well, crops up on a regular word of mouth basis. They move people. Literally. Recent landmark gigs for Mat Horne and This Feeling are gearing them up for an October EP release. A state of intent, ‘The Avery’ is an example of the hard hitting melodic punch that’s pricking up ears. Ours included. Grabbed ‘em to play on home turf, what with South East London being a cross breeding ground of constant new excitements. You might as well be here. You’ll swear you were anyway. “French Crops are one of London’s hottest unsigned bands and you had better get into them now before they launch into the mainstream.” (Cluttered Mind). “You just want to hear more” (News Beats Media) https://www.facebook.com/thefrenchcrops
Gigslutz - music focused news, reviews and interviews in the way you wish to read them. Raw reporting that pulls no punches and secures the likes of The Little Comets, Frankie & The Heartstrings, The Charlatans, New Order and Liam Gallagher. Already featured twice on NME.com, GigSlutz also had their report on The Stone Roses from Amsterdam picked up by the national press. They’ve had access at major events such as BBC Hackney Weekend, Lovebox, and Happy Mondays etc but also have one eye on the near future. And that’s why they’re here. The Gigslutz radio show is based near the venue at Optical Radio’s studio in The Old Police Station DIY art space. Their 7pm-9pm show will precede the live music as part of this multi media event then they’ll come up the road and DJ! http://www.youtube.com/gigslutz
Making The Music! MTM.tv was born in New Year. Get your faces on camera and relive it on “the place to be” - MTM.tv http://www.youtube.com/mtmtelevision1
ArtBeat loves our DJ Jean Genie, London's one-woman music super power. Scouting pre taste maker, presenting Panda~Power! events, DJ at Playhard, the City Showcase/Nike 'Run To The Beat' events and in demand at the capital's special events. Also a presenter on Kooba Radio and especially a musician in her own right (Jean Genie's Massive Hugs) there's more but JG is more about spreading positivity than her ego.
Jean Genie Graham plays wicked tunes that keep dance floors delighted. Bang!
Art and Exhibition are elemental to the ArtBeat story. More news to follow on that in the near future. So then, you are invited to get involved as this Freshers week,
ArtBeat began dreaming, united on-stage thrillers with a creative, partying crowd. Previous shows and co promotions include Bloc Party, Tinie Tempah, Breton, Kate Tempest, Chew Lips, Factory Floor, Pendulum, Julien Temple, Art Brut, Beardyman, Howard Marks and My Passion). Also co-present Playhard (UK's new live stream music screen show) among much else. Now a working music, art, industry and media network with an ever extending family. We fall in love and share the joy.
