On Friday, May 6, at 8 p.m. at the 92nd Street Y The Young People’s Chorus of New York City™ and its Artistic Director and Founder Francisco J. Núñez will celebrate the 10th anniversary of Transient Glory®. Joining YPC is renowned cellist Maya Beiser and returning to host is WNYC’s John Schaefer.
The concert features the world premiere of Hijaz, a Transient Glory commission from Michael Harrison and is a retrospective of some of Transient Glory’s most significant and influential compositions by John Corigliano (One Sweet Morning), David Del Tredici (Four Heartfelt Anthems), Paquito D’Rivera (Tembandumba), Gabriela Lena Frank (Picaflor Esmeralda), Meredith Monk (Things) and Michael Torke (Song of Ezekiel).
