The Young People’s Chorus of Erie will audition potential new members during the last week of August and first week of September.
Auditions will be held at various sites in the Erie region between Monday, August 30, and Friday, September 10. Singers will choose a time and location when they make their appointment to audition.
YPC Erie membership is open to all youth ages 7-18 who demonstrate the ability to match pitch and have a genuine interest in singing. An outreach program of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, YPC Erie is the first affiliate program of the famed Young People’s Chorus of New York City.
Currently, 125 youth sing in YPC Erie’s five choirs—Elementary, Intermediate, Concert, Chorale, and Young Men. Dr. Jason Bishop, YPC artistic director, said that the 2010-11 season will include performances at the third annual YPC Honor Chorus Festival on Saturday, Nov. 13; an appearance at the Erie Philharmonic holiday pops concert on Dec. 4; YPC Erie’s own holiday concert on Tuesday, Dec. 21, and an appearance by the younger choristers at the Erie Phil’s Valentine’s Day pops concert on Saturday, Feb. 12.
Audition appointments can be made by calling the YPC Erie administrative office at 814-898-6789. For more information about YPC Erie, visit ypcerie.org.
