You Gotta Hear This! Anja Strauss (soprano) December 12, 2010

This month on "You Gotta Hear This!": A veteran of Carnegie Hall as well as Davies Symphony Hall, Strauss brings her excellence in opera, oratorio, and lied repertoire for this intimate afternoon of music and conversation. ALSO: special guests Robin Sharp (violin) and Miles Graber (violin).

In the tradition of the classic radio variety show (think "From the Top" and "Prairie Home Companion"), the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra presents "You Gotta Hear This!"--a showcase of the best live music from around the Bay, at the plush Rrazz Room at the Hotel Nikko in San Francisco--hosted by our very own Ben Simon!

This fun, new chamber music series joins the well-established "Classical at the Freight" as part of the Chamber Orchestra's "Up Close & Personal" series--taking classical music out of the traditional concert hall and into the coffeehouses and jazz clubs! We hope you'll join us for new adventures in classical music!

Featuring top performing talent from the Bay Area's world-class conservatories, orchestras, and ensembles, "You Gotta Hear This!" brings fresh sounds across musical styles and genres--classical, jazz, acoustic, pop, international, and more. All this, plus lively, bright, and informative conversation with musicians and composers, as well as classical-music quizzes, games, and contests that bring the audience right into the action!
