There is a perception by many who attend karaoke that others are being selected for a song out of turn. A way to cure this would to be to have a dry erase board in plain view of everyone. When a singer comes up with a request they hand over the slip to the DJ who then adds that persons name to the board. It then remains there until the person leaves. That way the order of singers is clear to all and the singer has an idea of how long they have to wait until they are up next. If someone leaves - simply erase the name and everyone else get to jump up a spot. It works for friends of ours in FWB who do karaoke and no-one ever gets ticked off thinking someone has jumped the queue.
