Community Justice Salford and Salford Law School are holding an interactive sentencing event to explain the different types of sentence available, and to explore your views on sentencing in general.
The event includes an interactive 'ask the audience' session where cases are outlined, and you are asked to vote using electronic keypads on what sentence you feel the defendant should have received. The actual sentence given will then be revealed, and a District Judge gives his view on the factors which would have influenced that decision. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions.
Please note: that while some actual cases are used, the judge and magistrates are not able to comment on individual case outcomes or discuss actual cases.
Refreshments will be provided during an intermission break, this will also provide an opportunity to mix with other delegates.
