Queens Theatre in the Park (QTP)’s Chase 2010 Latino Cultural Festival, taking place from July 29 to August 8 at Queens Theatre in the Park, presents YOMO TORO Y Los Latino Del Son, with special guest "El Topo" on Friday, July 30, 2010 at 8pm. Yomo Toro's performance takes place at the Queens Theatre in the Park, Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Flushing, NY. This is the 14th year of the festival, which features 12 additional events, including music, dance, comedy, spoken word, film, and family-friendly performances, such as a concert by Leon Gieco, a pop-folk musician who has been called the Argentine Bob Dylan, and Carlos Varela, one of Cuba's most talented and emblematic artists.
Yomo Toro, musical maestro and cultural icon for over thirty years returns to Queens Theatre in the Park ! Known as the Jimi Hendrix of salsa, TORO’s spectacular, pioneering use of the cuatro (Puerto Rico’s 10-stringed guitar) has thrilled fans of all ages in concerts throughout the world. His dexterity and originality can be heard on his multiple recordings, his contributions to Willie Colon, Aresenio Rodriguez and Hector Lavoe’s albums, as well as in films, including the opening theme to Woody Allen’s "Bananas." YOMO TORO will perform with special guests, including Puerto Rican composer and poet "El Topo." Appropriate for ages 8 and up.
