"Yohen" is a term in the art of pottery to describe a coloring of pots and for a piece that is to be discarded. The play is an elegiac examination of a Japanese American wife and her African American husband. 'Yohen' deals with the nature of marriage and the unresolved issues which cause the marriage to be something of a fiction. It is about love and its power to blind and bind; it is about truth, denial and self-delusion.
