Artist Lecture Series: YLEM | Artists Using Technology

Animate: Breathing Life into the Still Image Past and Future




From video games to blockbuster movies, in galleries and in clubs, animation fever has taken hold. Video and online games are looking more like films, and a growing number of artists from Japan?s Takahashi Murakami to San Francisco?s own Koto Ezawa are finding animation to be a visually arresting medium with which to create topical art.

This evening will include discussion, demonstrations

and performances of animation art with:

Paul Topolos and Alex Harvill from Pixar;

Robin Harper and Ryan Vowne of Linden Lab, creator of Second Life;

and Nik and Nancy Phelps of the Sprocket Ensemble.
