When award-winning director, actor, and screenwriter Paul Mazursky (Harry & Tonto, Down and Out in Beverly Hills) heard that 25,000 mostly Hassidic Jews from around the world were expected to visit Uman, in the Ukraine, for three days of praying, singing and dancing, the filmmaker felt compelled to make the journey himself.
