Six art galleries in the Yerba Buena Neighborhood have joined forces to host Yerba Buena Gallery Walk. The Gallery Walk will feature free admission and refreshments, along with ample opportunities to experience art.
The 6 participating galleries offer a diverse look at contemporary, emerging, & established artists working in a variety of mediums. Highlights of the day include:
111 Minna Gallery: Travel from Eastern serenity to Western urbanity with the landscapes in Distilled Moments, Invisible Cities. Distilled Moments features paintings by Miya Ando Stanoff and Ted Lincoln while Invisible Cities is a multi-media installation presented by Ethsix*, Instant City, and Watchword Press.
Catharine Clark Gallery: View The Depravities of War, a solo exhibition by Sandow Birk featuring works that investigate the Iraq war. In the Video Project Room watch Waiting for..., a video installation by Julia Page created using C-Span video footage from U.S. Senate proceedings.
Chandler Fine Art and Framing: Examine new paintings by Robert Katsusuke Ogata. Working in a large format, Ogata's work is described as "scrambled, painterly passages that detour into more or less descriptive elements, giving a sense of ambiguity and surprise."
Crown Point Press: See two new color etchings by Robert Bechtle & explore Urban Landscape: A Group Exhibition including prints by Iain Baxter, John Chiara, Rackstraw Downes, Yvonne Jacquette, Tom Marioni, Ed Ruscha, Wayne Thiebaud, & William T. Wiley.
Sculpturesite Gallery: View Kathy Venter: One, an exhibition of life-scale terracotta and gypsum cement female nude figures, and Brad Howe: At this Moment, an exhibition of colorful abstract painted & stainless steel sculpture that is reminiscent of children's cartoons.
Varnish Fine Art: Enjoy Fertile Ground, a group show curated by NY dealer Alix Sloan that explores the cycles of life and nature and our roles as we relate to each other, our environment and forces beyond our control
