Renowned American pianist Sara Davis Buechner and prominent Canadian pianist Jane Coop will perform a premiere recital at Yamaha’s midtown Piano Salon on Saturday, October 27. Yamaha Artist Services, Inc., celebrating its 20th anniversary, will host four concerts in the series.
Sara Davis Buechner is a prizewinner of many of the world's most prestigious international piano competitions, including Concours Reine Elisabeth, Leeds International Pianoforte Competition and the Vienna International Piano Competition. She also won a gold medal in the 1984 Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition in Salt Lake City and was a bronze medalist in the 1986 Tschaikowsky International Piano Competition in Moscow. She has appeared as a soloist with America’s most prominent orchestras, including New York, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Saint Louis and San Francisco Symphony Orchestras, as well as abroad with the Japan Philharmonic, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (U.K.), Kuopio Philharmonic (Finland) and the Orquesta Sinfnica de Castilla y Len (Spain). She is an Assistant Professor of Piano at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver and has presented lectures and master classes worldwide.
Pianist Jane Coop is one of Canada’s most prominent and distinguished artists. She has toured extensively throughout North America, Europe, and Asia with major orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic of London, all the principal orchestras of Canada, the Seattle and Oregon Symphonies, the Hong Kong Philharmonic and the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra. She is Professor of Music and head of the Keyboard Division at the University of British Columbia in the winter as well as a resident artist at the Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival in Maine during the summer, where she performs with members of the Juilliard Quartet and other eminent musicians.
