What is Y Fest?
?A free rally/festival celebrating the power youth have, as individuals and collectively, to make a difference in local, national and global issues.
?A day of music, spoken word, art, and speeches to celebrate the fact that young people are not the problem, but instead a critical part of the solution to problems faced by our community and world!
Why Y Fest?
?The name ?Y Fest? was invented in 2005 by a group of high school students who were organizing the event. The Y stands for both Generation Y and Youth.
?The point of Y Fest is to celebrate and bring attention to the positive contributions that young people can and are making in the world, and to inspire others to do the same.
Who will be there? Who should go?
?Anyone and everyone can attend Y Fest. We are celebrating youth (21 and under), but all are welcome. The artists, poets & musicians are from Bay Area high schools and youth organizations.
?There will be booths with food, information on organizations that work with young people or want youth help, and youth-made items for sale (t-shirts/CD?s...).

Performances: Youth Only! Performers and the type of music/art that they bring to the stage range from rock to blues to hip hop to Mexican folklorico dance?the common thread is that each performer is young, talented, living in the Bay Area and donating their skills and time to help us celebrate the positive changes young people are making in our communities and world.
Returning artists from last year include The Gnomes from Mill Valley and Youth Movement Records (link: youthmovementrecords.org) of Oakland.
