WYATT’S WALK”
TO BENEFIT GUIDE DOGS OF THE DESERT

For Immediate Release – October 10, 2007 - “Wyatt’s Walk”, the fourth annual walk-a-thon sponsored by Guide Dogs of the Desert Arizona, will take place
on Saturday, November 3, 2007, at Margaret T. Hance Park in Phoenix.

All Proceeds will benefit Guide Dogs of the Desert so that it can continue to provide a more mobile and independent lifestyle to the blind. On-site registration
will begin at 8:00 AM at the Hance Park ramadas, 67 W. Culver. The walk will start at 10:00 AM. Walkers are invited to bring well-behaved pets on leash.
The sighted will have a rare opportunity to “test drive” a guide dog. After donning a blindfold, an individual will be able to walk a course with the assistance
of a trained guide dog and an instructor. A owner/dog look alike contest will be held, a law enforcement canine demonstration, a question and answer session
with a professional dog trainer. Raffle prizes and snacks will also be available.

Bill and Lisa Hazlet of Tempe and their guides, golden retrievers Astro and Max, are working hard to make the event a success. The couple, both blind since
birth, met at a Guide Dogs of the Desert event in Tempe, and later married. The Hazlets agree that their guide dogs have helped them to conquer many of life’s
challenges and want to help other blind individuals have opportunities to receive guide dogs. The Hazlets and their dogs are among the many guide dog
teams in the Phoenix metro area who are eager to let the public know more about what Guide Dogs of the Desert has done for them. “I see the walk as an
opportunity to give back.” said Lisa Hazlet.

Guide Dogs of the Desert is celebrating its 35th Anniversary of providing safe mobility, loving companionship, and the miracle of independence to the blind
through the use of a guide dog. This service is provided absolutely free of charge to those in need.

According to the National Eye Institute every seven minutes someone in America is diagnosed as blind or visually impaired. Since its inception in 1972,
Guide Dogs of the Desert has graduated over 1000 blind people and their dogs. Many of these people are Arizona residents. Yet many more are anxiously
awaiting this opportunity. We need your help so that we can continue to provide this critical and free service to the blind.
