When the Hoodoo Gurus formed in Sydney, Australia in 1981, they managed to attract a rather extraordinary amount of attention right off the bat due to their rather unconventional sound at the time - three guitars and drums, but no bass player. The bizarre and peculiar lineup got people's attention in the beginning, but it was a consistent and long career of making catchy singles and legendary live performances (both eventually with a bass player) that kept people's attention and brought more and more fans to the fold, and garnered them a passionate and zealous fan following that still exists worldwide today.
