Many organizations are effectively using practices such as UML and Design Patterns in their software development, but are still not adequately addressing the customer's total cost of ownership and handling requirements changes. As a result, Agile software development methodologies have gained popularity, along with techniques such as Test-Driven Development. But the challenge is to bring it all together in order to write well-designed, flexible code that truly harnesses the power that OO promises.
