Steven L. Sears and Aphrodite Jones will speak at the Alameda Writer's Group (AWG) meeting on Saturday, June 3rd, 2006. Doors open at 9:45 a.m. and the meeting begins at 10 a.m. at the Glendale Central Library, 222 East Harvard St. Glendale, 91205.
Admission is free, and the library validates parking in the Good Guys parking structure at Harvard and Maryland.
Sears will discuss "Creating Your Own Shortcuts to Success in Television Writing, Producing, and the Business." Drawing from 22 years in the trenches, he's written, story edited, and produced such shows as Stingray, The A-Team, JJ Starbuck, Father Dowling Mysteries, Swamp Thing, and written for such shows as Riptide, Hardcastle & McCormick, and Superboy, as well as television pilots, features, interactive and animation. Sears was co-executive producer of hit series Xena: Warrior Princess, and co-creator / executive producer of the series, Shena.
Aphrodite Jones is a New York Times best-selling author who has penned seven bestsellers, including two which have been turned into films (Boys Don't Cry and Betrayed by Love with Patricia Arquette). A third book, A Perfect Husband has been optioned by Lionsgate for Lifetime. She has provided TV commentary and insight into the psychological profiles of criminals and victims for The Today Show, America's Most Wanted and The O'Reilly Factor, as well as sharing her expert opinions on the many recent high profile trials including Scott Peterson, Michael Jackson, Robert Blake and many others. Jones will share her experiences in the page to screen process.
The AWG presents lectures by novelists, screenwriters, agents, producers, and other industry professionals at free monthly meetings. In addition, AWG members may attend special interest groups that offer support and feedback for works-in-progress.
