On Sunday, March 22 at 3:00 p.m., Wright Library will be hosting a book discussion of this year’s Big Read community reading selection, Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult. In this novel, Peter, an alienated teen who has been bullied since his very first day of school opens fire on his classmates and kills 10 people. Flashbacks reveal how his parents and teachers failed him and how constant bullying caused Peter to go over the edge. Those involved with the Oakwood Community initiative for the “40 Developmental Assets” will find this novel especially relevant and absorbing. The program will be held in the library meeting room, and light refreshments will be offered. Registration is not required. For a list of dates of all the discussion groups in the Miami Valley, visit www.BigRead.org. Questions? Contact the Wright Library Reference Department at (937) 294-7171. Wright Memorial Public Library is located at 1776 Far Hills Avenue in Oakwood.
