The Saratoga History Museum is opening a new exhibit, November 7 entitled, “The Great War—World War I.” The exhibit will run through the end of November.The exhibit commemorates the end of World War I which took place November 11 at 11AM in 1918. This year will be the 90th anniversary of what was once called Armistice Day or Remembrance Day. The Saratoga History Museum is open from 1-4 Friday through Sunday and located on 20450 Saratoga-Los Gatos Road in Saratoga, CA.
The exhibit features memorabilia loaned by local citizens as well as that owned by the museum. Poppies, a universal symbol of World War I will be part of the display. A Canadian soldier Lt. John McCrae wrote a poem memorializing one of the battlefields blooming in poppies called “In Flander’s Fields” which captured the world’s imagination and hearts. The poppy became a symbol of World War I.
