World Tour "Pacific Rim" Dinner at Vinifera Wine Bar & Bistro August 22, 2009

Vinifera Wine Bar & Bistro continues its culinary journey around the globe with its second “Vinifera World Tour” dinner, this time exploring the Pacific Rim while highlighting countries such as Australia, Japan, Thailand and Indonesia. Guests can enjoy the full Pacific Rim experience and stimulate their senses with food, wine and music. Vinifera’s Pacific Rim World Tour dinner will take place on Saturday, August 22nd from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.

Vinifera’s Executive Chef Bo Palker has crafted an authentic menu for the evening, preparing the most unique and delicious selections from the western side of the Pacific Rim region. Dishes will be served tapas style, as appetizer-sized portions perfect for sharing with prices ranging from $8-$18. Guests can choose from delectable soup and noodle dishes, such as an Australian Ningaloo Seafood Stew, Thai-style Tom Kha Gai, Thai coconut milk soup, and Phad See Ew. Selections will also include Indonesian specialties such as Gulai Kambing (spiced lamb), Nasi Goreng (fried rice) and Babi Keca (pork in a sweet soy sauce). In addition, guests can dine on the outdoor patio where Chef Bo will be firing up the grill and “slipping a shrimp on the barbie.”

To compliment the exquisite flavors of the Pacific Rim, General Manager/Sommelier Jason Meringolo has hand-picked the finest selections of traditional Sake and exotic regional wines to enjoy with the meal. Flights are available for $12-$15. In addition, an Asian tea service will also be available. Guests can stimulate their senses even further by reveling in an eclectic array of “New Age” world music ranging from Australian aboriginal drums to Asian-influenced instrumentals.

“Vinifera’s World Tour” is a monthly dinner series and will include regions such as Spain, South America, Central Europe, Eastern Mediterranean, Africa, and Asia Pacific. Guests who attend the dinners will receive a Vinifera passport and a stamp for the specific country/region featured at the dinner. Once patrons attend three of “Vinifera’s World Tour” dinners and collect the relevant stamps, they will be entered into a drawing for the chance to win an overnight stay at The Westin Reston Heights and breakfast for two at Vinifera.
