Opening reception:
June 20th, 2007
08:00 pm
The Townhouse Gallery and UNHCR are pleased to invite you to a celebration of the World Refugee Day with an opening of an exhibition where the public can view the artistic works of Refugee Children.
The aim of the show is to give the children a chance to display their creativity and to allow them to express themselves in a way that no words can. Each color, each shape, each drawing could be an expression of their hopes, dreams, aspirations, the past, the present, the future, or simply scribbles that remind us of the innocence of childhood.
On this occasion, let us all applaud to the children for their courage, for they have been through a journey that none of us adults might ever encounter, and encourage them to keep moving onwards with their heads high, and with hearts full of faith.
World Refugee Day, celebrated on the 20th of June of each year is a salute to the spirit and courage of the World's Refugees. On this day we think about the World's Refugees, their plight and extend to them our encouragement, support and respect.
Throughout their long and daunting journey from oppression and persecution to asylum and protection, and eventually to a place they can call home, Refugees show incredible strength, courage and determination. But in every step of their journey they carry with them an unshakable, unrelenting hope.
