Film Synopsis: The world's elite solo bagpipers form an all-star band to compete against all odds at the World Championships in an epic battle of the bands. Filmed in Scotland, Canada and the US, this award-winning music documentary offers all of the thrills and nail-biting suspense of a great sports movie. The oldest operating movie theatre in the city of Oakland, the Piedmont Theatre opened its doors on September 15, 1917. From its earliest days showing silent films through the studio era (including memorable runs of Jaws and Star Wars in the 1970s) to today's eclectic mix of independent, art-house and Hollywood fare, the Piedmont has long been a mainstay of the community.

In 2010, the Piedmont Theatre completed a comprehensive remodel, returning the vintage theatre to its original grandeur. The remodeling includes modern amenities such as luxury leather theatre seating and upgrades in the lobby and concession area.
