The Tigard Public Library will host a World Music Concert Series in July and August. Four free concerts will take place outdoors at the Gazebo behind the Library on Sundays beginning July 12 at 5 p.m. Each week the Festival will focus on a different style of world music.
Performers include:
July 12---Innisfree (Celtic music)
July 26---Jan Michael Looking Wolf (Native American Flute)
August 9---Son Cubano with Virginia Lopez and Ivan Alamo (Latin-Cuban music)
August 23--- Njuzu Mbira (African music)
In conjunction with the concerts, the Library will screen three world music documentary films on Wednesdays at 7 p.m., July 22, August 5, and August 19. The Library will also exhibit various world music book and CD displays throughout July and August.
In case of rain, the concerts will be held in the Library Community Room. The World Music Concert Series is sponsored by the Friends of Tigard Public Library.
