PCC Rock Creek Hosts Balkan Music Concert Feb. 10
The local band Opa-Groupa, which specializes in Balkan music, will perform at PCC Rock Creek’s Forum (Building 3, room 114) Wednesday, Feb. 10, the first in a three concert series hosted by the campus’ music department.
Known for its dedication to Gypsy, Romanian, and Macedonian tunes and dances, Opa-Groupa is a classically trained group of musicians that promotes itself as “Nu Balkan in Portland.”
World Music instructor Peter Zisa invited the band to play as part of his introduction to Eastern European music and the core theme of internationalization at PCC. The group will give a short talk on Balkan music before the performance. An impromptu Balkan dance lesson is possible.
This event is free and open to the public. PCC Parking is $3.
