Winner of awards at film festivals from coast to coast, Circus Dreams follows the adventures of a troupe of teens and tweens who astonish and delight audiences around New England on a Big Top Tour. The vibrant documentary captures the energy, perseverance, teamwork and deep friendships at Circus Smirkus, the Vermont-based traveling youth circus, as the cast readies a brand-new show and takes it on the road for 70 performances in 14 towns over seven weeks. From the grueling training and rigorous rehearsals to the emotional final show of the season, Circus Dreams documents a magical summer for a group of extraordinary young people.
The Circus Dreams screening will be the grand finale of PSCA’s day-long World Circus Day celebration. Festivities start bright and early, with circus-themed giveaways and trivia on PSCA’s Facebook and Twitter pages. PSCA is also hosting an art contest, where children are invited to bring in a picture, poem or story about PSCA, circus arts and/or World Circus Day. Each entrant receives a free circus puzzle and picture frame magnet. The festivities conclude at 7:00pm with the Circus Dreams screening and open house, which will also include live performances, light snacks and refreshments, and a discussion of the film. Free parking is available. For more information and directions the day of the event, please call PSCA at (215) 849-1991 or visit www.phillycircus.com.
