This world beat music group has an outstanding mix of people and sounds. The music ranges from American contemporary pop music, and branches out to reggae, Afro-Beat, Afro-Cuban, Latin, jazz, and soft rock. Performing both original songs, traditional songs, and ‘standards’ ZENZILE (pronounced Zen-zee-lay) named after the illustrious singer Miriam Makeba, is bound to mesmerize you with it’s sensuous and captivating rhythms, drawing on African and Afro-Cuban percussion foundations combined with its upbeat and flavorful instrumentations.
ZENZILE features two dynamic vocalists: Haitian born singer, Eder Charles, with his enchanting and soulful tones, who has been performing in the area for many years and the sensational college junior, Fashina Mira Alade, who currently sings with U Penn’s Dischord A Capella.
Ngor Jallow from Senegal adds traditional rhythms, songs and dance from his native county Senegal, West Africa, and hip-hop pro Wink Hudson will dazzle the eyes with his electric moves.
Besides the flavorful music, there is the tasteful Caribbean food prepared by the two Jamaican sisters who own the establishment!
B.Y.O. – Bring your own ‘spirits;’ they’ll be plenty of other spirit!
