Ashis Nandy discusses the political psychology of nations in South Asia and the challenges of maintaining a nation-state in the region. Professor Nandy is regarded as one of India’s most distinctive intellectual figures and a leading voice on such topics as Indian political culture, violence and modernity, development, and the nature of the post-colonial state. Foreign Policy magazine listed him as one of the world's top 100 public intellectuals in 2008.
