IDeA Research in association with Centre for Modeling and Simulation, University of Pune is conducting a 2 day workshop on “Non-linear Flight Dynamics, Control Law Clearance and Unsteady Aerodynamics” by Dr. Mikhail Goman on 18th and 19th September 2009 at Pune.
Technical Chair: Dr. T.G. Pai, ex-project Director, ADA
Chief Guest: Sh. Anil M Datar, Director, ARDE
Flight Mechanics is the study of the forces that act on an aircraft in flight, and the way the aircraft responds to those forces. These forces become highly non-linear near the boundaries of the flight envelope due to aerodynamic nonlinearities, inertia coupling, nonlinear constraints in control system etc.
These nonlinearities in flight mechanics can be effectively dealt with using tools provided by nonlinear dynamical systems theory. The results returned by these tools are used for performance and maneuverability evaluation, clearance of flight control laws (post-design validation), design and comparative study of different control strategies, flight envelope protection, etc.
Dr Goman is internationally reputed for his work on nonlinear dynamical systems and heads the Non Linear Flight Mechanics Group at DMU.
