Absolute Abstract is proud to present its monthly “Work in Progress” benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Mazzoni Center.
What do you get when you take a local Philadelphian artist, station him in the window of a storefront on 13th Street, ask him to create a work of art, and then auction off the finished piece? You get “Work in Progress” - an interactive painting exhibition benefiting Philadelphia charities.
Work in Progress occurs on the second Saturday of each month, from Noon to 5pm. Bidding on the work of art will start the moment the artist begins painting, and will end the following Saturday at noon. Proceeds from the sale of the featured painting benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Mazzoni Center.
You can bid on the piece all week long. Walk by and check the "Bid Board" in the window. There is no better way to support a local artist, or these two wonderful charities, then to check out Work In Progress.
Work in Progress III will take place on Saturday August 12th, and will feature Darrin Bowers. Darrin is a self taught artist and a Philadelphia native. He took up a strong interest in art at an early age, yet his professional career has taken him into the Banking industry. He has taken the time however to develop his skills as an artist and his interest continues to expand.
Darrin works with mixed media, acrylic and oil and his main focus is in landscapes and abstract impressionism. Although he is new to the Philadelphia art community his work is spontaneous and exciting. Darrin will share with you his story behind the inspiration for each of paintings.
