WordsWork Free Play Reading Series presents “The Madwoman of Chaillot” at the Avo Playhouse February 18, 2008

Written during the German occupation of Paris in 1942-43, an unscrupulous consortium of rich and powerful men, having discovered oil underneath the streets of Paris, propose to dig for it, completely disregarding the consequences to the beautiful city and its inhabitants. But their plans come to the attention of the Madwoman of Chaillot, a delightfully eccentric old woman who manages to exploit the exploiters and defeat the powers-that-be.
