In the early 1960s, somewhere behind the cold-war iron curtain, an American tourist, his wife and daughter rush into the embassy two steps ahead of the police who suspect them of spying. The Hollander family causes an international incident when Walter photographs a sunset in a sensitive region. In order to stay out of jail, the Hollanders take refuge in the American Embassy, which is temporarily being run by the absent Ambassador's diplomatically incompetent son, Axel. The plot thickens as they carefully and frantically plot their escape.
Luke Terry makes his Spotlight Theatre directorial debut with “Don’t Drink the Water” with a cast that includes Stephen Maestas (Walter Hollander) Priscilla Young (Marion Hollander) Brian Brooks (Axel Magee) Amy Ratliff (Susan Hollander) Dan Connell (Ambassador James F. Magee), Andy Lacerte (Mr. Kilroy), Gary Webster (Father Drobney), Meg Ralph (Chef), Kirsten Diener (Burns) Mike Kienker (Krojack), Bill Thompson (Yanis Kasnar) and Maru Garcia (Countess Bordoni).
