A roster of prominent artists and diverse repertoire highlight the Woodstock Mozart Festival’s 24th season July 31–August 15, 2010 at the Woodstock Opera House, featuring three concert programs, a Chamber Music Sampler, an all-Chopin piano recital and two master classes.
Each of the three orchestral concert programs takes place Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. The opening (July 31–August 1) and closing (August 14–15) weekends feature a pre-concert introduction one hour before each performance. The program lineup is as follows:
July 31–August 1: Dutch conductor Arthur Arnold’s program includes Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll; Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. VI in B-flat Major, BWV 1051; and Mozart’s Symphony No. 41 in C Major, K. 551. Featured artists are violists Kyle Armbrust and Doyle Armbrust.
August 7–8: The Festival’s Principal Guest Artist Mark Peskanov directs the Festival Orchestra as violinist and conductor in Rossini’s Sonata No. 3 in C Major for Strings; Mozart’s Divertimento in D Major, K. 334; and Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons. Peskanov teaches a master class for string instrumentalists at 5 p.m. on Sunday, August 8.
August 14–15: As pianist and conductor, Jeffrey Swann presents a program including two Mozart works: Fantasy in C Minor, K. 396 (Adagio) and Piano Concerto No. 13 in C Major, K. 415, as well as Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in E Minor, Op. 11. Swann also leads a piano master class at 5 p.m. on Sunday, August 15.

August 7: A Chamber Music Sampler Concert featuring Handel’s Keyboard and Violin Sonata No. 2 in G Minor and Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet in A Major, K. 581, performed by the Festival’s Principal Guest Artist Mark Peskanov, violin; Festival General Director Anita Whalen, piano; and Festival Orchestra musicians Karin Kelleher, violin; Erin Pipal, viola; Christian Ellenwood, clarinet; and Nazar Dzhuryn, cello.
August 14: A Chopin Recital performed by pianist Jeffrey Swann, including Waltzes in C-sharp Minor, Op. 64, No. 2 and A-flat Major, Op. 42; Nocturnes in F Major, Op. 15, No. 1 and E-flat Major, Op. 55., No. 2; Ballade No. 2, Op. 38; and Scherzo No. 4, Op. 54.
