The Wonky Pop Club opens its doors for the first time on Thursday 10th July, with a line-up that bulges at the seams with alternative pop royalty. With live sets from Norway's very own pop princess Annie, hotly tipped London teens The Clik Clik and NYC's Heloise And The Savoir Faire plus DJ support from Alphabeat, Richard X, Popjustice and The Voguettes, Cargo is set to go off like a particularly impressive firework.
Wonky Pop is a celebration of all that is warped and pleasingly eccentric in modern pop music. The first ever Wonky Pop tour in April gathered together Alphabeat, Leon Jean Marie and FRANKMUSIK together to spread the Wonky Pop gospel up and down the country. The gigs were packed, and the kids were crazy - ample proof that there is something happening out there in the land of pop and it’s nothing to do with phone votes or panels of judges.
This is the first ever Wonky Pop Club night, but from now on Shoreditch will get a regular dose of skewed magic on the second Thursday of the month. Expect more amazing live acts, unexpected DJs and other beautifully twisted performances guaranteed to stimulate and entertain the most jaded music lover. The future is bright - the future is Wonky...
