A 60-min presentation by Nomadic Women of Rajasthan, in context of women empowerment by repositioning ‘local’ in ‘global’. Nomadic/gypsy women from Rajasthan will share their experiences of participation in governance, and reflect upon how their local culture/knowledge/craft has been repositioned by CHINH in global environment to help them identify livelihood initiatives, which have now been endorsed by Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India. The presentations will be made by women from three communities: Banjara women (traditionally traders of salt and community goods), Bawariya women (traditionally a hunter community), Kalbeliya women (traditionally snake charmers).
