Learn about womens health and wellness and the resources available to women in our community at a Womens Conference. The college’s fourth annual Womens Conference this year focuses on Wellness: Mind, Body & Spirit. Workshops will address homeopathy, hormonal changes, yoga and ayurveda, breast care, eating for anti-inflammation, and creative writing for healing. The keynote speaker will be Pepper Schwartz, Professor of Sociology at the University of Washington and bestselling author of Prime: Adventures and Advice on Sex, Love, and the Sensual Years. Schwartz earned her doctorate in sociology at Yale. Her presentation will be on Keeping Your Balance: Holding on to What’s Important in Challenging Times. She will sign books after her address and at a reception following the conference. Edmonds Community College Womens Studies instructor Christine Greenway will also present a workshop on body image at the conference. A resource fair of community agencies will also introduce participants to local services for women. A Heart and Grace reception, honoring a local woman artist, follows the conference 5-7:30 p.m. in the art gallery on the third floor of Lynnwood Hall at the college. The reception is free and open to the public.
