This exhibit honors the significant contributions women have made to the NYPD. It traces women's progression from the first Police Matrons of the 1890s to the multifaceted modern day Police Officer. The exhibition features a historical timeline and includes vintage photographs, artifacts and a historic uniform display.

I hope the NYPD Police Museum will correct the inaccurate information provided in their Women In Policing Timeline segment of their website. As the documented and proven first female officer assigned to the NYPD Harbor Patrol, it has been an embarrassment to me, as a lecturer, and as a retired member of the Department, to have the Police Museum website cited to me, in public, as having the name of another female police officer listed as the first in the NYPD Harbor Unit. I am proud of my service in the NYPD. I am proud of my service in the Harbor Unit.. As of April 17, 2009 the Police Museum "Women In Policing" time line still lists incorrect information. This is especially dismaying to me today, as I understand, the Museum is hosting a program highlighting the early Women In Policing . . .
