The Winter Park Institute at Rollins College will host New York Times
Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Sheryl WuDunn. She will discuss human rights violations regarding women in developing countries. WuDunn co-authored the bestselling book Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, with her husband, Nicholas Kristof. Half the Sky chronicles the discrimination, torture and oppression of women in developing countries, but it also shows what can happen when those women are set free and empowered. The book gives readers hope — and it has inspired both its own human-rights movement and a documentary airing Oct. 1 and 2 on PBS.
