WLIW21 Autumn Gourmet Classic September 9, 2009

Popular public television chefs Lidia Matticchio Bastianich ("Lidia’s Italy") of Douglaston, Queens, Jacques Pépin ("Fast Food My Way"), and John Barricelli ("Everyday Baking from Everyday Food") join WLIW21 for an eclectic evening of food and wine tastings and “culinary theater.” Guests will enjoy personal access to the area’s top names in food and wine, including demonstrations by Pépin and Barricelli, and a meet and greet and photo opportunity with Bastianich. Food tastings will include DiPaloSelects.com of Little Italy, the French Culinary Institute, New York City restaurants Industria Argentina ("Chopped"-winning Chef Natalia Machado) and Paladar ("Chefs vs. City" Chef Aarón Sánchez), Barricelli’s SoNo Baking Company & Café of South Norwalk (CT), CoolFish Grille & Wine Bar of Syosset, and Stone Creek Inn of the Hamptons. Wine tastings will include wines from Italy, Spain, France, Argentina, Chile, including wines by Jean Luc Colombo - hailed as the “winemaking wizard” of the Rhone - and Banfi vintners of Old Brookville. Proceeds support WLIW21’s commercial-free arts, culture and cooking programming year round, as well as innovative educational and multimedia projects.
