Discover methods of identifying woody plants in the winter by their twigs. The characteristics seen on twigs provide powerful clues to a plant's identity. Other indicators include remaining leaves, infructescences, and bark. We'll start in the classroom with color images and guided keying of specimens, followed by a field walk to round out the day. Bring a lunch and dress for the weather (snowshoes will not be necessary).
