WINTER LUPUS SYMPOSIUM RESCHEDULED TO SAT, FEB 13TH

Due to extreme weather conditions, the South Central Support Group of the Oklahoma Chapter of the Lupus Foundation has rescheduled the Winter Lupus Symposium, which will now be held on Saturday, February13th. The event will take place from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm at the Mercy Memorial Health Center in Ardmore, Oklahoma. The symposium is free and open to the public

The Lupus Foundation's mission during the symposium is to educate the public and help newly diagnosed patients.

Symposium speakers will include Dr. Kimberly S. Smith, Oklahoma Orthopaedic Oncology; Dr. Rebecca Barnes, Barnes Vision Clinic; Wes Daniels, Data Researcher from the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation; Rod Cargill, Licensed Counselor, Lupus and Depression and Lea Jensen, Executive Director, LFA-OK Chapter.

Also speaking will be Kristi Klein, RN, Clinical Research Nurse and Coordinator for the BENLYSTA Clinical Trials, Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF). Kristi has worked closely with Dr. Joan Merrill, Medical Director for the Lupus Foundation of America, on this new lupus drug, which if approved this year, will be the first new lupus treatment developed in over 50 years.

Registration begins at 9:00 am and a continental breakfast will be served. Door prizes will be given away courtesy of the South Central Oklahoma Lupus Support group.
