Three of the hottest groups in DC ignite the stage with high energy choreography. Watch Coyaba Dance Theater, Step Afrika! and Washington Reflections Dance Company perform their specialty at a spirited pace. As the first professional company dedicated to stepping, Step Afrika’s intricate kicks, stomps and rhythms mixed with spoken word pound the floor and fill the air. “Full of clean lines and crisp jumps” (The Washington Post), Washington Reflections Dance Company performs contemporary ballet and modern dance under the direction of former Dance Theater of Harlem member Fabian Barnes. Coyaba’s dancers and drummers “[stir] the soul and [get] hearts pumping” (The Washington Post), through both traditional and contemporary forms of West African dance and music. With these three companies sharing the stage it is an evening not to be missed.
