The Windjammers Jazz Orchestra (WJO) presents an evening of live Big Band and Ballroom Dancing on Saturday, June 2 from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. at the Buck Recreation Center, 2004 W. Powers Ave, Littleton, CO 80120. A dance lesson, Saturday at 7:30 p.m., is included. Instructors are Jim & Amy Schoendaller. Tickets are $10/District rate $8 and available at the door or online at www.ssprd.org. Denver native, Charles King has been performing onstage every year since he turned 4-years-old. Starting in musical comedies at The Original Scene, Charles went on to perform drama, summer stock melodramas in Estes Park, and eventually develop an internationally acclaimed and award-winning tribute to Elvis Presley called The Shadow of Elvis. He has performed with/opened for/ and shared the stage with Chubby Checker, Johnny Otis, The Temptations, The 4 Tops, The Coasters, The Platters, Peter Noone of Herman’s Hermits, Paul Revere & The Raiders and countless others. He has headlined for National Conventions including Harlequin Books, Xerox, Lucent Technologies, Qwest (then US West) to name only a few. In 1992 he performed for over 5-million viewers on Italy’s Maurizio Costanza Show and sang the National Anthem for 70,000+ at Mile High Stadium. It has been Charles’ lifelong dream to lead an energetic, upbeat, and fun band the whole family can enjoy!
The Windjammers Jazz Orchestra has performed for 10th Mountain Division Reunion, Race for the Cure, Ft. Logan Memorial and Veterans Day Ceremonies, Littleton Firefighters Ball, Littleton Historical Museum, Denver Art Museum, Capitol Hill People's Fair, National Federation of the Blind, U.S. Air Force, American Diabetes Foundation, and many corporate and private functions.
Windjammers Jazz Orchestra performs under the umbrella of the Littleton Community Music Association (LCMA). LCMA provides performance opportunities for adults and youth in a supportive community setting.
