Oklahoma City Community College and the Phillips Murrah Law firm have joined forces to present the Wind Power for Landowners seminar on April 25.
To be held at the OCCC John Massey Center, located at 11919 South I-44 Service Road in South Oklahoma City, the seminar is open to the public. The three-hour course is designed to provide Oklahoma landowners an overview of the rapidly growing wind energy industry and instruction on successfully leasing land for wind energy production. The seminar will explore the following topics:
• Wind energy industry overview
• Real world land leasing
• Understanding & managing contract negotiations
• Evaluating wind energy production leases
• Q&A session: technical, legal, industry
Industry experts selected to teach the course include: Jim Roth, alternative "green" energy lawyer with Phillips Murrah P.C. and former Oklahoma Corporation Commissioner; Sally Hasenfratz, attorney with Phillips Murrah P.C., specializing in real estate and land use; Dr. Shannon Ferrell, attorney and professor of Agricultural Economics at Oklahoma State University and Angie Albers, project coordinator for Oklahoma Wind Power Initiative.
The Wind Power for Landowners seminar is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration is $30 per person or $45 for two.
